How to Analyze Survey Responses With AI
To analyze survey responses with AI, collect the answers in a form builder that has AI analysis, then ask it to summarize. In Pinkit Forms you open a form's Responses and run the AI analysis: it reads the open answers, groups them into themes, and counts how many are positive, neutral and negative for each question. Ratings and choices are in the responses table, and everything can be downloaded as a CSV.
Build a survey and try the analysisUpdated
Step by step
- Collect responses. Publish the form and share the link. Answers are saved in your account.
- Open Responses. Open the form and choose Responses to see every answer in a table.
- Run the AI analysis. Ask for the analysis. The AI reads the open answers and returns the themes for each question, with positive, neutral and negative counts.
- Download the data. Download a CSV to sort, filter or chart the numbers in Excel or Google Sheets.
What AI is good at here, and what it is not
AI is good at the slow part: reading a hundred open answers and saying "most people mention waiting time, and a few mention parking". It is less useful for questions such as names, phone numbers or yes/no, so the analysis skips those.
Treat the summary as a starting point. Read a few answers under each theme before you act on it, especially when the number of responses is small.
Get better answers to analyze
- Ask one open question per topic ("What did you like about the service?"), not one big "Any comments?".
- Add a rating next to each open question, so you can see what the low scores have in common.
- Keep the survey short so more people finish it.
Frequently asked questions
Can AI summarize open-ended survey answers?
Yes. In Pinkit Forms the AI groups open answers into themes and counts positive, neutral and negative answers.
Can I export the responses?
Yes, as a CSV file that opens in Excel or Google Sheets.
Who sees my respondents' answers when the AI analyzes them?
The analysis appears only in your account. To make it, the answers are sent to Claude by Anthropic, the AI the site uses. The privacy policy explains what is kept and for how long.
